Support
The Branch is able to offer practical and emotional support in a number of ways and we are always happy to be involved as much, or as little, as you would find helpful:
If you would like to know more about the support we can offer, please contact Annette Scott on 01622 820719 or [email protected]
- Our Association Visitors (AVs) are able to provide support by staying in regular contact either in person, by phone or by email. By getting to know you and those close to you, then can share their knowledge of MND, as well as signpost you to other sources of help and liaise with other healthcare professionals. They will also be able to advise on the provision of equipment, adaptions etc - some of which may be able to obtain from the Branch.
- We hold regular Support Days at either Heart of Kent Hospice, Aylesford or the Wisdom Hospice, Rochester. These provide opportunities to meet other people, to receive a range of complimentary therapies, but most importantly to have a lovely lunch and a lot of laughter with friends. To find the dates of these support days, please visit our Diary Dates page
- We hold regular Support & Social afternoons that offer you the chance to meet others in a similar situation who will understand the difficulties you might be facing. These meetings provide an opportunity to make friends, share experiences and exchange ideas, as well as meeting with the AVs for any additional support that may be required. The emphasis is on the 'social' - there is always cake! To find the dates of these support days, please visit our Diary Dates page
- We hold Carers and Ex-Carers Support Group meetings - for people who are, or have, cared for someone diagnosed with MND. The aim of the Group is to provide the opportunity of sharing information and experiences. These discussions are informal and often expand into wider issues and interests. There is no commitment to attend every meeting, the meetings are for you! If you would like to be included in the invite list, and are not already included, please send me your email address and contact phone number to Dave Sheridan at [email protected] - you can find the dates of the next meetings on the Diary Dates page

"We have found the meetings a valuable resource for sharing information and experiences with other patients and carers. Also good for support from the caring and helpful volunteers who make it all happen. The cakes are always great too!"
